of course not. who wants to use the same chip that worked on PREVIOUS D2C units?

The industry is pushing for low-wire count chips, everyone wants to use the bare minimum. I am sure that if a 9 wire solution can be made so can a 15, 19 & 31 wire. I wonder if we will see an update for D2CKeys to change them over to a 9 wire. I doubt it. no onboard osc.

and as I predicted long before they were adapted, the Jtag devices again will be useless - or suffer from a very slow update period, in comparison to the D2Pro2 or Argon 2 chip.

Nintendo tries because of people called investors. If the investors know they are investing into a system that has no security left to build on capitalism via sales (or no sales) of games, they have no reason to invest and will invest into a company like Sony who do not have a problem with their PS3. If Nintendo shows they are trying to thwart piracy at the IC level effectivly, making current chips non-functional but with no added cost to the development process, investors are impressed and throw them more money to help out...

This goes for any business.

I knew this race could only be won by the developers of the first D2C chip. Cloners will remain just that.
