+1 for the helloworld.wiiapp folder. This would show up as a program on the wii, but would contain the executable, the icon and the meta data.

This makes it simple to distribute app's and easy to install/uninstall them (just delete them!)

Preferences could also be stored inside the *.wiiapp folder, if the dev wished.

Or a better extension: helloworld.wiibrew!
